Innovative Materials for Structures

i-MAS (Innovative Materials and Systems) provides consultancy services for development, experimentation and modelling focussing on the certification of innovative materials and/or systems for the building and construction industry with structural applications.
This activity is perfectly aligned with the objectives of the ABCLab Laboratories System: on the one hand, the research carried out makes it possible to broaden the department’s presence in the community through collaboration with research bodies (for example the Italian Technical Approval Body ITC-CNR) and the industrial sector; on the other hand, it enables the deployment of ad hoc interdepartmental collaborations with colleagues from other scientific disciplines, according to the purpose of the research. Should the research require experimental activities, the unit will initiate specific collaborations with the experimental laboratories within the department or the university. With regard to the certification of innovative products and materials for construction, i-MAS will collaborate with European certification bodies such as the Politecnico’s Materials Testing Laboratory and ITC-CNR (Italy), Dibt (Germany), OIB (Austria), IteC (Spain) and CEREMA (France).
