The aim is to improve the quality of the construction in relation to its use and the environmental and social context.

The services offered support all phases in the process of performance optimisation, comprising measurements, behavioural modelling, the characterisation of materials and components and the definition of innovative design criteria, with regard to energy, environmental, safety, comfort and usability performance.

The intended market for these services includes parties in the world of research and public and/or private clients.

Test facility building

A demonstration building equipped with experimental sensors for innovation on subjects of sustainability, light and natural ventilation and collaboration with companies to test and experiment with innovative solutions in the construction industry. Integration of design, services and monitoring systems. BIM 6D (sustainability) and BIM 7D (digital twin and cognitive building) platforms.

Local acoustic planning

Support for local bodies in local acoustics planning.

Acoustic characterisation and evaluation of innovative materials and products

Acoustic characterisation of innovative materials and products such as recycled materials, elastic materials for flooring insulation, 3D elements and the study of acoustic bridges linked to the installation methods of products and plant passages. Analysis and evaluation of the acoustic performance of innovative materials and components, including through tests of the sound-absorbing characteristics of materials, tests of flooring insulation and evaluation of horizontal Rw.

Ergonomics and human factors

Ergonomic evaluation and definition of user-centred criteria to support the design and redevelopment of living and working environments, accessibility and inclusive design.

Indoor air quality and ambient comfort

Instrumental measurement, evaluation and optimisation of the indoor air quality in respect of chemical, physical and biological pollutants and ambient comfort with regard to thermal and hygrometric, acoustic and lighting parameters.

Evaluation/certification of the environmental compatibility of building products

Evaluation and certification of the environmental compatibility of building products and materials in respect of resource consumption, emissions, indoor air quality and waste cycling criteria.

Evaluation of the properties of transparent and opaque products

Measurement and evaluation of the optical-radiation properties of transparent, translucent and opaque products: spectral solar transmittance; spectral solar reflectance; thermal emissivity.

Modelling of building envelope systems

Modelling and optimisation of the energy performance of building envelope systems and support in developing innovative, low-impact envelope components.
Modelling of the energy and lighting performance of glazing and sun protection systems.
Modelling of the energy, hygrothermal and albedo performance of green roofing.

Monitoring of photovoltaic and hybrid components

Experimental outdoor monitoring of photovoltaic and hybrid components (photovoltaic-thermal).

Modelling of building-plant systems

Dynamic modelling and simulation of buildings and plant systems.
