As a multi-disciplinary research laboratory, HOME_LAB supports an innovative vision for university residences and services and the corresponding support structures. The laboratory positions itself as a special scientific and operational partner on the themes of student housing, within both the national and international context. This commitment comprises collaborations with universities, technical offices, regional bodies, national bodies, companies, operators and foundations, providing opportunities to test and experiment with innovative solutions in the student living sector. The Laboratory provides technical and scientific consultancy as well as operational support to stakeholders and operators in the field of student accommodation for students studying away from home, the application of Italian Law No. 338/2000 “Provisions relating to housing and residences for university students” and the implementation of the provisions of Mission 4 of the #PNRR, M4C1 – Reform 1.7 “Student housing and reform of the student housing legislation”.
Mapping, evaluation and analysis of the existing national and international assets.
Technical, typological and management innovation in university residences
Definition of innovative structures as part of the technical and typological definitions that characterise the specific form of (national and international) students living away from home and the promotion of innovative models of management, including through the implementation of IoT systems. Analysis and testing of the feasibility of innovative spatial and functional layouts as part of new constructions and the recovery of existing constructions to be utilised for student accommodation.

Strategies and projects for health in the urban area, Walkability Index, Cycling Index.
Analysis and development of innovative models for healthcare facilities
Technical feasibility studies for health facilities and architecture, critical analysis of social and health demand framework, evaluation of quality and sustainability from a social, environmental and organisational point of view, development of innovative models (typological, architectural, spatial, functional, management, technological). Evaluation and optimisation of healthcare facilities from the perspective of the influence on the wellbeing of the patient and other users in terms of user-friendliness, indoor air quality, soft-qualities, medical furniture, wayfinding and signage, healing gardens, inclusivity and the universal design strategy.
